The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is seeking to lower the phone bills by up to 30 per cent as people struggle to keep up with finances due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The NBTC had earlier provided 10 gigabytes of data to 30 million mobile subscribers for free.
Talks with Thailand’s five major telecommunication providers had been ongoing all week.
Thai Enquirer understands that a deal is now complete and that details of the deal would be announced on Friday.
The negotiators for the providers asked for more time to talk over the deal with their management teams before the details were released.
The reason negotiations took so long is because the providers were reluctant and said that they had already introduced cheap packages.
