Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) filed a letter to the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) on Friday saying that they intend to enact provisions that will allow them to increase their revenues as they have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
Among the provisions they will enact will be a fee increase for drivers.
BEM and EXAT have clashed in the past over fee hikes with BEM demanding compensation from EXAT for not allowing it to increase fees.
In 2016, an arbitration committee ruled that EXAT must pay BEM 8.16 billion baht worth of compensation plus an interest payment of 3.77 billion baht.
The BEM runs the Si Rat expressway, Si Rat – Outer Ring Road Expressway and Udon Ratthaya Expressway as well as the MRT Blue and Purple Lines.
