Japan broadcaster NHK recently did a simulation of how coronavirus could spread in the confined spaces of a cruise ship.
Many large outbreaks around the world started in small confined spaces, whether it is cruise ships like the Diamond Princess with its 712 cases, an American aircraft carrier or even the foreign worker dormitories in Singapore which has led to thousands of infections.
The NHK study simulated a cruise ship buffet environment with 10 people in the room. The study then applied an ‘infection’ to one person via painting that person’s hand with fluorescent paint.
The results were shocking. In 30 minutes, everyone was infected.
