Bangkok governor threatens to close parks if citizens continue to ignore restrictive measures

Bangkok may have to close 37 public parks if citizens fail to follow the necessary safety measures, Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang announced on Monday.

Although he encourages citizens to go out, exercise and participate in outdoor activities, a significant number failed to follow appropriate safety measures, Aswin said through his official Facebook page.

Many were seen without face masks, while ignoring social distancing measures and using exercising equipments inside the park – all of which are still strongly prohibited.

If this continues, authorities will have no other option but to close the parks to the public once again.

Park-goers should take breaks, remove the masks from their nose or change to light exercises when they get too tired. The heat and humidity during this time could exacerbate those conditions, he added.
