Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Minister for the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, said on Monday that the meeting between MPs at the Ministry of Finance had nothing to do with politics.
The MPs went to the Ministry of Finance on Monday to learn about the three bills being introduced for the Emergency Loan Decree which will be debated in parliament between May 27-31.
There was speculation that the MPs went to the Ministry of Finance to support Palang Pracharat Party leader Utama Saowanayon as news surfaced that he is being replaced by Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister.
“I would like to clarify that this is not the time for politics because [there are] people relying on us,” Thammanat said.
He further adds that other parties also went to the Ministry of Finance, such as the Thai Local Power Party.
The Palang Pracharat Party has made headlines due to rumours of internal strife between Utama and Prawit for the party leadership.
Parliament will resume on Wednesday.
