The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA)’s subcommittee on reopening said on Wednesday that they will propose lifting the curfew for 15 days.
The State of Emergency (SOE) will continue to remain in place until July 1, but the curfew (11 p.m. to 3 a.m.) could be lifted for 15 days until then.
National Security Council secretary-general Somsak Roongsita said they will discuss lifting the curfew at CCSA’s main meeting on Friday. They will also decide on whether to extend the SOE by next week.
The SOE was announced on March 26 and it was extended again in April and May.
As per the constitution, the SOE can last up to three months after it was announced. It is also possible to extend it further based on the discretion of the Prime Minister. Each extension can last up to three months.
For international flights, Somsak said the entry ban will have to be lifted by the end of June before they can consider resuming flights.
The remaining businesses that have been considered too high risk to reopen, including entertainment venues and boxing matches, could be permitted to reopen during Phase 4 of the easing period.
However, they will have to agree on it first at CCSA’s meeting on Friday.
Phase 4 is expected to begin on Monday, June 15.
