Students and activists from Hong Kong and Southeast Asia have expressed solidarity with Thai students after the latter held anti-government demonstrations this past weekend.
The internet solidarity stems from the “Milk Tea Alliance,” a growing online movement between Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan that pushed back against Beijing’s growing encroachment in the region earlier this year.
The alliance eventually became a more widespread pro-democracy and pro-liberty group which included students and activists in the Philippines, as the online movement expressed solidarity with one another’s fight against totalitarian governments.
Most recently, the internet users used their platform to criticize and highlight the injustices of Hong Kong’s new security law.
Now, with pro-democracy protests once again taking place in Thailand, the Milk Tea Alliance has seemingly banded together to express their support.
