A new charity in Thailand is aiming to boost morale and reward frontline workers and doctors for their selfless contribution to Thai society during the coronavirus pandemic.
The charity, started by Marisa Chearavanont of the CP Group, has recruited top chefs from across Thailand to donate lunch boxes to public hospitals in the fight against Covid-19.

The charity, called Chef Cares, currently donates 300 lunch boxes, prepared by Michelin and celebrity chefs, to two hospitals every day.
“We wanted to reward our heroes, the doctors, and nurses who work so many hours a day to keep us safe,” Marisa told Thai Enquirer.
“When we heard that during their shifts, the doctors often had to eat frozen food because it was deemed safest, we wanted to do something to give them encouragement.”
Marisa said that the coronavirus has spared no one in society regardless of their status and the exemplary work of Thai doctors have kept most of us safe. According to Marisa, every chef that she approached immediately agreed and wanted to join a program that contributed to the national fight against the pandemic.
The roster of chefs rotate often to give a variety of different options to the doctors and nurses.

“We are all doing this on a voluntary basis,” said Chef Alessandro Santi of the Waldorf Astoria in Bangkok.
Santi said that the charity was a good opportunity to help society and also keep his team together at a time when restaurants and hotels are shuttered due to the coronavirus lockdown.
“My staff, myself, we were all eager to volunteer and help,” Santi said.
“We all have to do what we can,” Marisa said.
