There are going to be changes in the cabinet because General Prawit Wongsuwan will be the next leader of the pro-military Palang Pracharat Party.
Somkid Jatusripitak could be gone.
The finance minister and acting party leader Uttama Savanayana and his friend, energy minister Sontirat Sontijirawong, might have to give way as Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha and Prawit will want to find someone easier to control.
For me, however, the one that should give way is not Somkid, Uttama or Sontirat.
They will just be replaced by other yes-men anyway.
For me, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul should go. First of all, he is not a doctor or even in this field prior to this appointment.
If anything, he should be running the ministry of agriculture so that he can keep his promise to allow people to grow weed.
The decision to lock down the country was not his decision, it was a collective decision strongly advocated by the public health sector. So, Anutin cannot take credit for the country’s success in keeping the pandemic under control.
Then comes his insults on medical staffs which led to our red ribbon which is still hanging on our logo to show supports for our heroes.
Recent comments by Anutin including the “don’t let your guard down” was also uncouth and unfortunate.
Don’t get me wrong, I support the message because any idiot would know that wearing masks, washing your hands, and keeping away from crowded places would lower your risk of any infection, not just COVID.
What I cannot accept is for the health minister of this country to ask people to do something and then not do it themselves.
When asked for an explanation on why he was not observing social distancing measures when he was sitting with a group of about ten officials from the health ministry at the beach, the health minster simply chooses not to answer.
And are we supposed to be satisfied with that?
Why do other people and businesses have to be afraid of being arrested but the health minister can simply just ignore it?
I want the social distancing rules to be accepted for as long as it can so that we can all be safe.
How is that going to be achieved when the health minister does not even care enough to explain why he is breaking the rules?
